Trombone lecturer at the Sibelius Academy
Line Johannesen(b.1977) is a Norwegian trombone player living in Finland playing in the Finnish Radio Orchestra and teaching at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
Johannesen started playing at the age 8 and played in the local school band. She did her bachelor studies at the Conservatory in Tromsø and at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with Thorbjørn Lønmo and Ingemar Roos. She did her Master studies at the Academy of Music in Malmö with PK Svensen. 2003-2006 she was member of Verbier Festival orchestra and since 2006 she has been working in The Finnish Radio Orchestra. Johannesen was playing with the brass ensemble tenThing with Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth 2014-2018. In 2015 she was performing artist at ITF in Valencia and she has 4 times been performing artist and teacher in Lieksa Brass Week. She has kept masterclasses in Spain, Germany, Italy, Norway, Denmark, China, Great Britain, and Finland and played several times with the brass ensemble World Brass. Since 2020 she has been trombone lecturer and responsible trombone teacher at the Sibelius Academy.
Line is married to John and mother of Astrid. She is a happy camper, passionate knitter and in her spare time she is a doctoral student doing developmental work on music for trombone and string quartet.
