Want to be on stage at the biggest trombone event in the world? APPLY to perform or present at the ITF!
Each year, the International Trombone Festival showcases outstanding performances, innovative ideas, and inspiring collaborations from around the world.
What do I need to apply? Before clicking one of the links below, gather the following:
Presentation title and abstract
Representative recordings or research samples
Your bio and publicity photo(s)
Names of any additional performers
There are three ways to participate on the official program:
Click to apply as a Presenter
Presenters have a 45-minute session, performance, or lecture-demonstration on the ITF program. Open to trombonists of any age, this category may include solo, chamber, or jazz performances, as well as educational sessions focused on pedagogy, history, or research. The ITF can provide a projector, screen, and basic sound reinforcement as needed. Any additional or specialized equipment requests must be approved in advance by the ITF Manager.
Click to apply to the Performing Artist Showcase
The ITF Performing Artist Showcase is a shared recital program that highlights new, emerging, or original works featuring the trombone. Open to trombonists of any age, the PAS provides an opportunity to present innovative and engaging repertoire in a festival setting. An on-site collaborative pianist will be provided by the ITF at no cost to the performer, if needed. Expenses for any additional musicians are the responsibility of the applicant. Applications should include the performance of a single work not exceeding 15 minutes in duration. If the proposed work has not yet been composed or recorded, applicants may submit a recording of a comparable work for consideration.
Click to apply as a Student or Community Ensemble
Student and community ensembles accepted to the ITF perform a 25-minute program on a mainstage, often serving as the opening concert for a featured artist. Student ensembles receive a special discounted registration rate. Performing as a student ensemble offers young trombonists an exciting opportunity to take the stage, connect with peers, and experience the ITF from a performer’s perspective.
All applicants must cover their own travel expenses. Presenters and Performing Artist Showcase participants receive a 10% discount on ITF registration.
Applications are reviewed by a panel comprised of ITF staff, the host, and advisory board members, and are evaluated on innovation, artistic merit, and relevance to ITF programming.
